Position Description: Activity Bus Driver
School Bus Drivers must possess or have the ability to acquire an appropriate commercial driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia; must pass a physical examination as prescribed by the Virginia Department of Education; and possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record from the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles that meets state requirements and indicates positive driving points.

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Driving school bus; picking up and delivering students to/from activities.
- Performs pre‑trip inspection of school bus; reports operating and equipment deficiencies.
- Washes bus; cleans bus inside and out.
- Fuels bus as required.
- Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for school bus operations.
- Transports only authorized students, school personnel and/or authorized chaperones on special trips.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Transports students to special events and field trips.
- Records mileage; maintains various records and prepares a variety of reports on activities.
- Ensures passenger safety; maintains discipline on bus; makes reports as necessary.
- Makes bus available for scheduled maintenance and/or repairs.
- Performs related tasks as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
