Safeguarding Policy Statement

All people who work for us will come into contact with vulnerable adults in the course of their duties. It is essential that we work to protect the rights and dignity of all individuals with whom we work and as an organisation we are committed to ensuring that our clients, their families and children are protected from abuse.

Vulnerable people (both adults and children) are at risk of abuse in varied forms including:

  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Emotional
  • Financial abuse

Abuse may be committed by the staff of agencies providing care or by others who are in a trusting relationship with a vulnerable person. Our agency has a duty to do everything possible to prevent report and tackle abuse wherever we encounter it.

As an employee of this company, you will be expected to work within our framework for safeguarding and to understand in full your duties with regard to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. All staff working for the organisation will receive thorough training in safeguarding and will be provided with support at all times to enable them to effectively tackle any safeguarding issues which they may encounter.

Although this organisation only provides services to adults, we recognise our responsibility to protect children whom we encounter in the course of delivering our service. It is therefore vital that all staff understand their responsibilities with regard to recognising the signs of abuse in both Adults and Children and in reporting these concerns and ensuring that appropriate action is taken.

All roles within the organisation have the potential to require contact with vulnerable service users and therefore all roles will be subject to enhanced DBS disclosure, a check against the Adult First register and satisfactory references from previous employers (or other suitable referees).

The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.

If you have any adult cautions (simple or conditional) or spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, you will need to disclose them.

Any candidate who fails to disclose information, receive satisfactory references or comply with the companies policies on Safeguarding will not be offered employment and any conditional offers of employment will be revoked. An employee who fails to disclose relevant information or follow safeguarding procedures is highly likely to have their employment terminated.
