Introduction

We are looking for a friendly, caring Early Years Apprentice to join our team at Radbrook Nursery and Pre-School. We are a small setting with a baby room for under 2s and a pre-school room for ages 2-4. You will work with our pre-school team, supporting children’s learning, development and activities.

About the Employer

We are a private run nursery and hold up to 18 children a day in our setting. This includes just 3 babies and 15 children in our pre-school room.

What You'll Do

The role involves working closely with children, parents, carers and professionals to promote the well-being, development and individual needs of each child. It requires being a positive and supportive member of the staff team, showing genuine care and respect for children and their families, and helping to ensure the nursery runs smoothly each day. The role also involves supporting the key person through observations, planning and maintaining children’s files, learning from senior staff, assisting with activities and daily duties, and using initiative when needed. All responsibilities should be carried out in line with the nursery’s policies and procedures and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, ensuring children receive a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning experience.

Roles and Responsibilities typically include:

  • Supporting children's learning and development through play-based activities
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of age-appropriate learning experiences
  • Observing, monitoring and recording children’s progress and achievements
  • Promoting children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development
  • Supporting children’s communication, language and literacy development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children develop social skills
  • Ensuring the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of all children at all times
  • Following health and safety policies, including risk assessments and accident reporting
  • Assisting with personal care routines, including toileting, handwashing and mealtimes, where appropriate
  • Building positive and professional relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues
  • Supporting children with additional needs and helping to promote an inclusive environment
  • Preparing learning resources and maintaining stimulating, safe learning spaces
  • Contributing to daily nursery, preschool or classroom routines
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with setting policies and statutory requirements
  • Working as part of the wider early years team and attending training and development activities
  • Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and organisational policies and procedures
