I’m currently partnering with a large, established and market-leading organisation with a strong UK footprint, as they look to appoint a Control Systems Engineer into their growing C&I function. This is a business with real heritage and a workforce full of long-serving experts, but equally a company that’s evolving, bringing in a new generation of high-calibre talent and investing heavily in modern engineering standards and ways of working. The Opportunity

This is a genuinely exciting, long-term opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer who wants to make a lasting impact. The role has been created with a clear goal: to help elevate and professionalise controls and engineering standards across the business. You’ll play a key part in shaping how systems, processes and documentation are structured moving forward. Alongside this, you’ll be involved in a broad mix of activities - from design and development through to commissioning, maintenance and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and programming PLC/SCADA systems from first principles
  • Producing high-quality engineering documentation (URS, FDS, control philosophies, cause & effect, etc.)
  • Supporting plant operations with fault finding, maintenance and system improvements
  • Working closely with wider engineering and project teams on instrumentation and control strategy
  • Contributing to safety studies (HAZOPs, MOCs) as the C&I specialist
  • Driving improvements in engineering standards, processes and documentation across the business
  • Coaching and supporting maintenance teams to improve fault-finding capability

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong technical capability across PLC/SCADA systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Experience designing control systems and working with instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, etc.)
  • A methodical engineer with a real focus on documentation, standards and process
  • Someone who can operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • A collaborative mindset with the confidence to influence and improve existing ways of working
