This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact across a business undergoing significant transformation and multi million pound investment.

About the opportunity:

This is an exciting time to join this business. With substantial capital projects underway and a clear focus on modernising and strengthening process safety performance, my client is looking for a Process Safety Specialist who can embed best practice, influence real cultural change and elevate standards across their COMAH operations.

You’ll join a collaborative Engineering team while working closely with EHS, Operations and Regulatory stakeholders to ensure plants (both existing and in development) are designed, operated and maintained to the highest levels of safety and compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as the Group’s process safety focal point across multiple Upper Tier COMAH sites.
  • Driving continuous improvement in Process Safety performance and culture.
  • Leading and facilitating PHAs, LOPAs, HAZIDs, and playing a major role in the revalidation of all HAZOPs within a rolling five-year programme.
  • Supporting major investment and engineering projects including pressure relief, safety instrumentation, DSEAR/ATEX and QRA activities - to ensure robust, risk-based design.
  • Streamlining and strengthening COMAH safety management systems, ensuring clarity, consistency and timely close out of actions.
  • Working with internal teams and specialist partners to ensure COMAH Safety Reports are accurate and fully up-to-date.
  • Driving the Management of Change (MoC) process, ensuring compliance and best practice across multiple sites.
  • Identifying gaps in process safety information and overseeing the development of improved documentation and procedures.
  • Supporting internal training, capability building and process safety performance reporting.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or similar relevant discipline).
  • Chartered Engineer status is essential.
  • Significant operations or engineering experience within a major hazards, manufacturing or process environment - including demonstrable experience in a dedicated Process Safety role.
  • Strong track record with HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and COMAH compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, guide and challenge across all levels.
  • Highly organised, decisive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Experience with Bowtie analysis, incident investigation, human factors and culture-change initiatives is advantageous.

Why join?

  • Work in a top-tier COMAH environment at a pivotal moment of growth and investment.
  • Influence major strategic projects and shape long-term process safety performance.
  • Be part of a business that is agile, well-resourced and committed to best practice.
  • Enjoy genuine autonomy to drive improvements, innovate, and lead meaningful change.

If you’re motivated by the opportunity to elevate standards, enhance culture, and contribute to significant investment projects in a high-hazard environment, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and play a key role in shaping the next chapter of one of the most exciting businesses in the industry's process safety journey!

Our client is an equal opportunities employer and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
