Currently NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit a lead radiographer in order to support the ongoing planning, establishment and management of the new MRI service in the Western Isles. The overall role is to manage and co-ordinate the work of the MRI suite and liaise with other departments, staff groups and patients to provide a comprehensive and effective service.

We are committed to providing the best care possible to our population – applicants should have understanding of realistic medicine and how this impacts radiology. The post will be based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. There is opportunity to undertake on-call duties with this post, which is remunerated in addition to base salary.

The successful applicants will be required to register with the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).

  • 37 hours permanent (fixed‑term or secondment considered)
  • Plus £1,349 Distant Islands Allowance per annum
  • The post attracts a generous relocation expenses package of up to £8,000
