We’re looking for someone who brings that same spirit of creativity, ambition and innovation to lead our Audio‑Visual team and help take our content production to the next level. We’re looking for someone who can combine creativity with effective leadership, someone who can set a vision, organise and inspire others and deliver exceptional content in a fast moving environment; someone technically skilled and audience focussed, with a sound understanding of what makes content work for social media.
As our Senior Communications & Engagement Manager (Content Creation), you’ll lead a super‑talented AV team producing impactful, insight driven content that helps people understand the work of Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), the Mayor of Greater Manchester and partners and strengthens trust in local democracy. The AV team’s work is varied from making reels with the Mayor to recording a podcast with firefighters, from award‑winning photography to livestreaming and sound engineering events.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll be the driving force behind our content creation and social storytelling leading the Audio Visual team to deliver high‑quality video, photography, livestreams and digital formats that bring Greater Manchester’s priorities to life.
- Provide senior management for the commissioning, briefing, day‑to‑day management and deployment of the Audio Visual team.
- Ensure activity is insight‑led, drawing on audience data, platform trends and emerging formats.
- Oversee complex, multi‑workstream content and AV delivery, leading project planning and production scheduling.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure their priorities are reflected in high‑quality, audience‑focused content.
- Work with senior leaders and colleagues to develop and implement social media strategies for key GMCA accounts, ensuring channels are engaging, accessible, inclusive and aligned with organisational goals and brand.
- Provide assurance for digital media governance, ensuring robust GDPR‑compliant practices, adherence to accessibility requirements, and best practice in digital asset management across the full content lifecycle.

What you’ll bring
- Hands‑on experience producing high‑quality Audio Visual and social media content for a high‑profile organisation, with the ability to film and edit at pace.
- Excellent writing skills and proven editorial judgement, able to translate complex ideas and cutting‑edge policy into clear, engaging content for different audiences.
- Demonstrable success growing engagement and audiences across social media, with strong understanding of evaluating reach, impact and using insight to inform content.
- Experienced leader providing senior oversight of the full Audio Visual function, including equipment procurement, maintenance, budgeting, forecasting and end‑to‑end production.
- Calm, resilient and adaptable with sound judgement under pressure and managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Collaborative and skilled at building effective relationships across a large, complex organisation, working confidently with colleagues, partners and senior stakeholders.
