Overview

As Marketing and Communications Officer (Sports Projects), you will play a key role in shaping the marketing and communications activity around the European College of Sport Science Congress 2027 (ECSS)— a major international event hosted by Manchester Met. Working within our Corporate Marketing team, you’ll help tell powerful stories about our research, partnerships and expertise in sport and exercise science. If you’re a creative marketing professional who thrives on delivering impactful campaigns and enjoys working across large, high‑profile projects, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the marketing and communications support for the European College of Sport Science Congress 2027, helping deliver a successful international event programme.
  • Develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns that showcase Manchester Met’s strengths in sport and exercise research to a range of audiences.
  • Create compelling content and marketing materials across multiple channels including digital, social, events and publications.
  • Manage branding and promotional assets for ECSS, including digital promotion, event collateral and partner materials.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the University to ensure a consistent narrative and joined‑up approach to marketing activity.
  • Review and enhance existing content relating to sport and sports research to align with the University’s strategic positioning.
  • Monitor campaign performance and demonstrate the impact and return on investment of marketing activity.

You will also contribute to wider marketing and communications projects across the External Relations Directorate when required.

  • Experience working in a professional marketing or communications role.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate complex campaigns or initiatives.
  • Experience delivering integrated marketing activity across digital and offline channels.
  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills.
  • The ability to work with multiple stakeholders and build strong collaborative relationships.
  • A creative mindset and enthusiasm for developing new ideas and approaches.
  • Experience supporting major events, working within higher education or the sport sector, or managing brand and physical branding projects would be beneficial.
