A career without limits. As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain. It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
The role: Communications and Engagement Executive – Worldwide Airports. At British Airways, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As a Communications and Engagement Executive within our Worldwide Airports (WWA) directorate, you’ll play a vital role in shaping how we connect with, inform and inspire colleagues across our global airport network. This is a highly visible role, working closely with senior leaders to bring our strategy, priorities and transformation programmes to life through clear, engaging and meaningful internal communications. You’ll help build trust, pride and connection across diverse, operational and unionised environments — ensuring colleagues understand not just what is changing, but why it matters.
What you’ll do:
- Translate WWA strategy, priorities and transformation programmes into clear, consistent and timely internal communications for colleagues across the network.
- Develop and deliver an annual internal communications plan aligned to the WWA people plan and wider British Airways objectives.
- Drive the creation of a strong employee brand for WWA, reinforcing values, culture and behavioural expectations through all communications.
- Manage and oversee internal communication channels, ensuring accessibility, reach and relevance for globally dispersed teams.
- Support the delivery of engagement initiatives, campaigns and recognition events that build connection, performance and cultural transformation.
- Act as a key connector between WWA, Corporate Communications and HR to ensure joined-up messaging and avoid duplication.
- Analyse engagement survey results and colleague feedback, identifying opportunities to drive organisational improvement.
- Coordinate urgent and time-critical communications during periods of operational disruption.
What you’ll bring to British Airways: You’ll be an engaging, approachable and credible communications leader, with a passion for bringing people with you. Comfortable operating at pace and under pressure, you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, building trusted relationships across a complex stakeholder landscape. You’ll be confident influencing at all levels, open to different perspectives, and motivated by making a real difference to colleague engagement and culture. Your communication style will be flexible, innovative and authentic, underpinned by strong judgement, resilience and a collaborative mindset.
Your experience:
- Proven experience as a communications professional.
- Strong understanding of employee engagement drivers, with a track record of delivering impactful engagement initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence effectively.
- Experience writing compelling, clear and engaging communications for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management capability, with experience improving processes and driving efficiency.
- Understanding of digital communications tools and technology (desirable).
- Knowledge of employee engagement theory and best practice (desirable).
What we offer: We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary. From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family. At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress. We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.
Inclusion & Diversity: At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work. Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
