Job description:

Overview
To assist the workshop operations for the production of high-quality structural steelwork, architectural metal works and associated products; to learn from work colleagues, and where necessary attend site to carry out minor works

Responsibilities

Work safely and have regard for the safety of others
Assist fabricators and welders with material handling and preparation
Cut, grind, and clean steel components as directed
Operate basic workshop tools and machinery safely and efficiently
Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Unload deliveries and organise steel stock as required- Goods in/Goods out
Perform general workshop duties including sweeping, waste disposal, and tool maintenance
Follow all health and safety regulations and company procedures
Report any equipment faults or safety concerns to the Foreman/Manager
Provide ad-hoc support for project preparation and assembly
Use of overhead crane
Use of plant including but not exclusively, Plasma, break press
Primarily based in a busy workshop environment
May involve occasional outdoor work or site visits
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
Standard working hours with potential for overtime during busy periods

Qualifications

Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment is preferred
Basic understanding of hand tools and workshop machinery
Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn and take on varied tasks
Forklift license or relevant certifications (desirable but not essential)
Knowledge of steel fabrication processes (advantageous)
