Salary: £16 to £18 per hour (DOE)
Part Time Hours: 22-30 hours per week. Can be worked over 3 or 4 days but MUST include a Wednesday and Friday.
The Role: As an Accounts Assistant, you will provide essential support to ensure the delivery of an efficient and professional service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing bookkeeping services for a portfolio of local clients, including maintaining and reviewing bookkeeping records using accounting software.
- Preparing management accounts and reports for client directors.
- Assisting with the preparation and timely submission of quarterly VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Liaising with clients to resolve queries and ensure understanding of VAT liabilities and payment deadlines.
- Supporting the preparation of accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
- Handling ad hoc administrative tasks, including answering client calls and raising invoices.
- Occasional client visits as required, alongside remote support from the office.
Skills and Experience:
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice is preferred.
- Sound understanding of VAT return preparation for small owner-managed businesses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage 50, Sage Business Cloud (Sage One), Xero, or QuickBooks.
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
