About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious sales professional to join a well-established and progressive organisation operating within the construction equipment sector. Due to internal progression, we are seeking a high-calibre, commercially minded individual with a proactive and energetic approach to sales. This role would suit someone who thrives in a customer-facing environment, enjoys building long-term relationships, and has a genuine passion for delivering tailored equipment solutions. This is a field-based role covering Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, focused on developing both new and existing customer relationships within the construction, industrial, and heavy equipment sectors.

Main Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to promote and sell a leading range of construction machinery and equipment to both new and existing customers across an established territory. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, identifying suitable solutions, managing the sales process from enquiry to delivery, and maintaining exceptional levels of customer service throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong and lasting relationships with new and existing customers across the territory
  • Develop a detailed understanding of customers’ businesses, operational requirements, and technical needs
  • Provide valuable market and customer feedback to management
  • Prepare customer quotations and tailored equipment solutions, including optional service and maintenance packages, attachments, finance, and insurance products where applicable
  • Conduct appraisals of used machinery and equipment
  • Produce accurate equipment specifications to meet customer requirements and operational needs
  • Carry out on-site demonstrations, presentations, and product installations
  • Drive sales growth and profitability in line with business objectives
  • Monitor customer account status and support payment collection processes where required
  • Maintain accurate customer records and pipeline management through the CRM system to support forecasting and sales planning
  • Deliver excellent customer service and consistently exceed expectations
  • Build strong internal and external communication channels to support successful outcomes
  • Complete all sales administration accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Contribute positively to wider team and business success through collaboration and effective communication
  • Provide accurate reporting and updates to management
  • Adhere to all health safety standards, company policies, and compliance procedures
  • Undertake any additional duties reasonably required to support the needs of the business

Skills Experience Required

Essential

  • Proven track record in field sales within the construction, plant machinery, industrial equipment, agricultural machinery, powered access, commercial vehicle, or similar sectors
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent customer problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to understand and influence customer buying decisions and requirements
  • Experience in sales planning, territory management, pipeline forecasting, and account development
  • Strong consultative selling and questioning skills with a proven ability to secure successful outcomes
  • Ability to present technical solutions in a clear and commercially focused way
