Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Band Saw Operative to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating band saw machines to cut and shape various materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand tools and tooling, and an understanding of fabrication processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to precise manufacturing operations while ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret job orders, process sheets and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, cutting requirements and quantities.
  • Accurately measure, mark, cut and trim foam and other materials using band saws, fabric saws, knives, scissors and other tools.
  • Set up, adjust and safely operate machinery to produce components to required specifications and quality standards.
  • Inspect finished materials for defects, discrepancies or incorrect specifications, reporting issues and equipment faults to management.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and material traceability while organising, separating and stacking completed components according to job requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area, carry out basic machinery maintenance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating band saws or similar cutting machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Proficiency with hand tools, tooling setups, and basic math for measurements
  • Ability to read technical drawings or work orders accurately
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to machinery operation and fabrication environments
