Fed up with the traditional practice roles on offer? This position offers you the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge you have developed as an Employment Lawyer within a commercial setting, letting you keep your hand in with Employment Law, whilst offering you the opportunity to work hand in hand with the senior leadership within a dynamic, growth-oriented national business from their Leeds City Centre base.
We are looking for a highly commercial Employment Solicitor, someone committed to delivering a quality service, with a minimum of 3-4 years’ PQE, who is keen to move into an in-house role. This role offers a unique opportunity to utilise your employment law expertise while gaining exposure to strategic HR and governance matters in a fast-paced, growth-oriented setting. This role will take you away from recording units of time, billing clients etc. and it will immerse you within a national business whilst stretching how you think, and what you know, challenging you to think and deliver differently in relation to some of the work that you will be involved in.
This organisation stands out for its vibrant culture, significant investments in technology, and a strong commitment to development and innovation. Based in the centre of Leeds, with a national base, the company fosters a collaborative environment, and within this role, you would be working alongside senior stakeholders, including the Chief of People and Head of Compliance/Risk. The company values a balance of practical legal knowledge and a proactive, strategic approach to HR and employment issues. It is ideal for professionals looking to move from traditional practice into a dynamic, in-house role with real involvement in organisational decision-making.
This exciting position provides the platform to work closely with internal teams and external advisors in a hybrid working environment. You will advise on broad HR and ER matters, support partner lifecycle processes, and contribute to strategic projects such as remuneration reviews, governance, and diversity initiatives. The role involves liaising with senior management and external legal counsel, giving you a comprehensive view of the practical application of employment law within a corporate setting. It’s a rewarding chance to move beyond purely advisory work, with the opportunity to be involved in decision-making processes and organisational strategy.
The Ideal Candidate
- Solicitor (or equivalent) with 4+ years PQE in employment law
- Experience supporting or managing employment tribunal claims
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly at all levels
- Willingness to develop knowledge of corporate structures
- Proactive, strategic mindset with a keen interest in organisational development
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a vibrant, progressive organisation. You will benefit from flexible, hybrid working, a competitive package, and significant learning and development prospects. Our client’s investment in their people and technology ensures a challenging yet rewarding environment where excellence is recognised and growth is supported.
