Job Description
A lovely, small and private family estate near Downham Market, Norfolk is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Grounds & Garden Maintenance Person to help care for and enhance their 3.5-acre plot, which includes a 2-acre paddock.
This is a part-time role (2 days per week, potentially increasing to 3 days next year in line with the additional work). Ideal for someone with a strong background in horticulture and estate maintenance who takes pride in keeping gardens looking their best year-round. The household is warm, welcoming, and looking for someone reliable, professional, and easy to get along with.
Responsibilities
- Flower bed care β weeding, pruning, trimming, seasonal planting, restocking where needed
- Hedge trimming and shaping
- General garden upkeep β tidiness, composting, waste management
- Basic grounds tasks β strimming, light clearing, sweeping paths and patios
- Occasional help with logs, gutters, or bins, as needed
- Jet washing terraces periodically
Looking Ahead
In 2026, the family hopes to develop a kitchen garden with a greenhouse and approximately six large vegetable beds. The ideal candidate would be excited to plant, maintain, and manage this space once it is built, taking ownership of the project and ensuring itβs productivity through the seasons. They are also planning to add a terrace off of the kitchen, which has already been started. This will consist of both pots and beds and need planting up in 2026.
