ESTATE GARDENER – Nr Oundle, Northamptonshire

CONTRACT TYPE: Part Time

SHIFT & SCHEDULE: Day Shift, 8 hour shift

JOB DESCRIPTION

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled and proactive gardener to join a friendly private household on a beautiful small estate in the Nene Valley.

This is a part-time, self-employed role working 1 day per week (8 hours total) alongside the current long-standing gardener, who has been with the family for many years. The role is to help ease the load, support the wider estate team, and ensure the grounds continue to be maintained to their usual high standard.

The Estate:

A well-kept rural property comprising a listed farmhouse, 7 stables, multiple outbuildings, 3 acres of gardens and orchard, 5 acres of woodland, and 20 acres of paddocks.

Duties include:

  • Mowing Lawns (ride-on and push mowers)
  • Topping fields using estate tractors
  • Strimming, hedge cutting, and leaf blowing
  • Assisting with general garden and grounds maintenance
  • Supporting other estate tasks as needed

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced in garden machinery and general estate maintenance
  • Happy working in a rural setting with dogs and horses
  • Reliable, practical, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Hands-on and flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Comfortable mucking in and supporting where needed

Details:

  • Self-employed basis
  • £20–28 per hour, depending on experience
