Job Description

The Glyndebourne Estate is seeking an Assistant Member of the Estate Maintenance Team to assist with a wide range of maintenance duties. The role will vary from time to time but principally includes general building and carpentry repairs. In the role, you will report directly to the Estate Foreman.

Responsibilities:

The Glyndebourne Estate consists of a large portfolio of residential, agricultural and commercial properties. In the role, you will be responsible for organising and undertaking proactive maintenance of Estate assets, including the principal Glyndebourne Mansion House.

  • At times, you will be responsible for managing external contractors and refurbishment projects. In the role, you will be offered responsibility and the Estate would encourage you to recommend investment opportunities.
  • The Estate is looking for a confident communicator with an energetic attitude and ability to work as a team. You will liaise directly with tenants, Strutt & Parker and the wider Glyndebourne community.
  • The Estate will organise regular appropriate training for the role, including asbestos awareness, emergency first aid at work and manual handing.
  • The Estate will provide a vehicle to be used during the day, a valid UK driving licence is a requirement of the role.

Ideally, the Estate is seeking a qualified individual who has experience in the general building and/or carpentry industry.

The first six months of employment shall be a probationary period.

Hours of Work & Salary:

  • The Estate is seeking a full time member of staff.
  • The working hours will be between 8:00am and 4:30pm
  • Mondays to Fridays inclusive.
  • You will be entitled to an unpaid half an hour lunch break.

Package:

  • Competitive salary dependant on experience and qualifications. The salary will be reviewed annually and there will be scope to progress.
  • 20 days holiday during each holiday year; in addition, you are entitled to a day off on the usual public holidays in England and Wales.
