We are looking for a hands-on Lead Manufacturing Assembly Technician to join our Manufacturing team within Jig Management. This role is suited to an experienced technician who takes pride in precision workmanship, can support day-to-day workshop priorities, and is confident guiding others in a fast-paced, high-performance engineering environment.
Working closely with Production Control, Production Engineering, Quality, Design, Machining, Manufacturing Engineering, and Stores, you will help ensure jigs, fixtures, tooling, and assembly support items are built, inspected, maintained, and delivered to the required quality and timing standards.
What you will be doing
- Provide hands-on leadership within Jig Management, setting high standards for build quality, inspection discipline, safe working practices, professionalism, and delivery performance.
- Build, inspect, rework, and support jigs, fixtures, tooling, and assembly support items to the required quality and delivery standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, build requirements, and inspection criteria to ensure work is completed right first time.
- Coordinate daily jig build, inspection, repair, and support activities in line with Production Control priorities and manufacturing programme requirements.
- Identify, investigate, contain, and contain jig, fixture, and tooling issues, helping to resolve problems quickly and prevent recurrence.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance, coaching, and support to technicians, helping develop team capability and maintain high-performance standards.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement activity, identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and waste reduction.
What we are looking for
- Extensive experience in mechanical assembly, jig build, tooling, fixture manufacture, or a similar precision engineering environment.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve manufacturing, tooling, and quality issues.
- Experience working to demanding production schedules while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards.
- Previous experience in a lead technician, senior technician, team leader, or supervisory capacity would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of jig and fixture inspection, dimensional verification, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or high-performance manufacturing environments would be beneficial.
