About The Role
The RAC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Advisor to join our People Team on a permanent basis. As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll be at the heart of our payroll operations, ensuring colleagues across the organisation are paid correctly and on time, all while maintaining full compliance with legislation and supporting our payroll processes to run seamlessly.
You will manage the full end‑to‑end monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate colleague data, statutory payments, reconciliations, and compliance with HMRC and pension requirements. You will be a key point of contact, handling payroll queries, producing reports, and supporting year‑end activities such as P60s and P11Ds.
The ideal candidate will be a self‑starter with strong payroll experience who thrives on accuracy, collaboration, and delivering exceptional service to our colleagues. This is a hybrid role, working 2 days a week from our Bescot (Walsall) office and 3 days a week from home offering flexibility while being part of a dynamic and supportive team.

What you’ll do:
- Manage end‑to‑end monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Work closely with our external payroll partner.
- Maintain colleague payroll records including starters, leavers, contractual changes, and statutory documents.
- Calculate statutory payments and reconcile payroll data.
- Provide support to colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders regarding payroll queries.
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, pension rules, and internal governance.
- Produce payroll reports for Finance, People teams, and audit purposes.
- Collaborate with the People Team, People Systems & MI, Reward, and Finance to ensure data integrity and process alignment.
What you’ll need:
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation including tax, NI, and statutory payments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced knowledge of Excel.
- High numerical accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience of working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive colleague data.
- Experience using ResourceLink (desirable).
- Experience using Zellis (desirable).
