As a Roadside Vehicle Technician with the RAC, your primary focus will be diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of vehicle faults at the roadside, getting our members safely back on their journey as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will manage your workload effectively, represent the RAC brand with professionalism and care, and maintain high standards of safety and technical accuracy at all times.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess relevant technical knowledge and practical experience in light vehicle maintenance and fault finding. You will thrive working independently, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and enjoy meeting new people while providing reassuring customer support in demanding roadside situations.
Key responsibilities and features of this role include:
- Attending stranded motorists promptly and conducting thorough diagnostic testing to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Performing efficient roadside repairs where possible, or arranging alternative transport and recovery solutions when required.
- Maintaining accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs completed, and parts used.
- Adhering strictly to health and safety guidelines while working in varied roadside and weather conditions.
- Starting and finishing your shifts directly from your driveway for added convenience.
- Working demand‑led shifts averaging around 40 hours per week, with opportunities for optional overtime to further boost your earnings.
