About The Role
Are you a skilled mechanic ready to transition from the shop floor to a dynamic desk-based role? Do you want to use your technical knowledge to make a real difference without getting your hands dirty? We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Mechanic to join our rapidly expanding Motability team!
As a Technical Support Mechanic, you'll play a key role in ensuring customers receive the best solutions. Working as part of our dedicated team, you'll provide remote assistance and expert technical advice to resolve vehicle issues efficiently and accurately.
What you'll do...
- Provide remote assistance to patrols, retailers and customers to guide real-time repairs and resolve vehicle issues efficiently
- Support our internal roadside teams with live diagnostics, helping to increase first-time fix rates and reduce the need for vehicle recovery
- Manage technical complaints by working with customers, case managers, manufacturers and the dealer network to reach fair and timely resolutions
- Monitor and share technical insights to keep RAC and Motability Operations aligned with evolving technologies
- Ensure warranty processes are applied fairly and consistently across the retailer network
What we're looking for...
We're looking for someone with a strong mechanical background and excellent communication skills. You might be:
- A workshop controller, mechanic or vehicle technician looking to move into a more analytical and advisory role
- Experienced with vehicle diagnostics, repairs and workshop operations
- Comfortable reading and interpreting technical reports
- Confident in using systems and handling multiple cases with attention to detail
What you'll need...
- A minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Engineering
- Level 3 EV Trained (Or desire to work towards)
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a vehicle technician, mechanic or in a workshop controller role
- Strong working knowledge of diagnostic systems and repair procedures
- Clear, professional communication - both written and verbal
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and case management systems
