Job Description
This full-time, itinerant teaching opportunity is designed for an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving K-12 students near Norfolk/Chesapeake, VA. The contract runs from August 18, 2025, through May 30, 2026, with a consistent schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a 40-hour workweek.
The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across elementary to high school levels. Responsibilities include direct teaching, curriculum adaptation, and collaboration with allied professionals such as Orientation & Mobility specialists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists to develop prehensive educational plans. The elementary caseload will require more hands-on involvement, including assistance with braille literacy for a legally blind student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to visually impaired students across multiple grade levels
- Adapt educational materials to meet individual student needs, including braille
- Collaborate with O&M specialists, OT, and PT to support student development
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly
- Maintain detailed records and municate effectively with all team members
