Position: Middle School Special Education Teacher
Interrelated / Mild Intellectual & Other Disabilities (MOID) / Autism
Location: Forest Hills Middle Schools
Employment: Full-time, 10-month contract (190 days)
Pay & Benefits: Competitive salary based on district scale; includes full benefits package.

Overview
The Special Education Teacher provides high-quality academic and behavioral support to middle school students (grades 68) with diverse needs. The role spans Interrelated, MOID, and Autism settings, requiring expertise in differentiated instruction, behavior management (FBAs/BIPs), and collaborative service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver targeted instruction aligned with IEP goals, using differentiated materials and instructional strategies?.
  • Lead case management for assigned students: coordinate IEP and RTI meetings, conduct FBAs and BIPs, and manage required documentation.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and inform interventions.
  • Adapt curricula to support access to general education content, integrating tools.
  • Supervise, train, and collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers.
  • Foster safe, inclusive classrooms, managing both academic and personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding).
  • Build strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders, offering guidance, training, and support?.
  • Utilize principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavior management to support self-regulation and social skills.
  • Attend staff, departmental, district, and parent meetings; engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Georgia Special Education teaching certification.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes, learning theories, and behavior management strategies.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with students with MOID, Autism, or within Interrelated classrooms.
  • Proficient with educational software platforms and adaptive curricula?.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage classroom/paraprofessional teams.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time, in-classroom setting with para support?.
  • Participation in school events and occasional work beyond the regular day?.
  • Must be able to assist students with self-care and mobility tasks (lifting up to 2030 lbs)?.
