Job Description
Job Title: Radiology Tech
Department: Imaging
Location: Massena Hospital
Hours Per Week: per diem
Schedule: 8 hour variable shift
SUMMARY: The Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves operating X-ray and other imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and producing high-quality images for physician review. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to safety protocols and professional standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads charts, prescriptions and radiology requests to ascertain the existence of valid physician orders for diagnostic x-ray procedures.

Obtains pertinent clinical information and follows special physician requests noted on prescriptions and radiology requests.

Prepares contrast media according to physician's order or departmental policy.

Assures proper patient identify prior to performing an x-ray procedure.

Questions female patients of child bearing age regarding the possibility of being pregnant prior to performing an x-ray procedure.

Reports positive or questionable responses to the radiologist or referring physician for additional guidance prior to proceeding any further.

Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures not involving fluoroscopy.

Assists physicians during fluoroscopic and invasive radiology procedures.

Functions in the operating room to provide diagnostic x-ray coverage.

Lifts and moves patients with assistance.

Operates all stationary and mobile x-ray equipment available to the Medical Imaging department.

Notifies supervisor of equipment deficiencies.

Develops x-rays and assists in maintaining processing equipment by assuring that chemical solutions are kept at prescribed levels.

Maintains assigned x-ray room.

Assures that the assigned room is stocked according to prescribed levels with necessary supplies

Assists, as needed, or as patient care demands, in the operation of the x-ray file room.

Maintains a thorough knowledge of its operation.

Labels all studies correctly
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Degree:

Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology
Required Certification/Licensure:

Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist

New York State Department of Health Licensure and Registered with ARRT

BLS within 3 months of hire.

Requires ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care.

Requires good reading and deductive skills in order to interpret physician requests and effectively solve problems.

Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal with apprehensive patients in a professional and compassionate manner.

Requires positive and effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in emotionally charged situations

PAY RANGE:
$28.82 – $38.96
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
