Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a premiere clinical and academic health system, providing expert pediatric care for infants, children, and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems. Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, we provide access to innovative treatments and therapies. With more than half of the 259 beds in our teaching hospital devoted to intensive care level services, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's West Coast. Physicians and community hospitals count on us to care for critically ill patients and perform complex surgical procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Part-Time 24 hours per week, Pulmonary Diagnostic Respiratory Therapist’s purpose is to provide quality respiratory care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment. Collaborates care with the multidisciplinary team and communicates effectively with others. Ensures patient care meets quality standards established by the hospital, department and regulatory agencies. Is accountable for maintaining all skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe, effective and developmentally appropriate respiratory care to all ages of patients from neonate to adolescent. Along with other members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes which meet the high standards of care provided by JHACH.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assesses patients clinical status, evaluates progress toward goals, and recommends courses of action to determine a plan of care

  • Plans for patient’s respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes

  • Safely performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines and policies to provide safe patient care

  • Analyzes critical situations and applies appropriate judgement and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution

  • Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to support patient care

  • Documents interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation

  • Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination

  • Effectively works in a team-based environment especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities to achieve the highest quality of patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree

  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)

  • Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred

  • No experience required for New graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist

  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association

  • Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period

  • Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Salary Range: Minimum 30.19 per hour – Maximum 47.58 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
