Within the scope of practice as a Registered Polysomnographer, and in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation requirements, the registered polysomnographer provides sleep disorders assessment, care planning and direct delivery of treatment utilizing professional AASM care processes in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, and established hospital policies, procedures and protocols. Adhere to the professional standards of the National Board for Respiratory Care, the New York State Education Department and Canton Potsdam Hospital.

Required – NYS Licensure as an Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Therapist with Registry by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.

Preferred: NYS Licensure as an Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist with Registry by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists and a Graduate of an accredited bachelors degree or associate degree program in Respiratory Care or Polysomnography.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform and document sleep study scoring according to American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards of practice.

The ability to initiate and perform all polysomnographic recordings. Ability to perform a comprehensive patient assessment, identify patient needs and administer indicated/ ordered therapy in accordance with department policies and AASM standards of practice. Identifies and responds to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes

Maintain quality records and suggest improvement opportunities.

Identify and respond to opportunities for education to patient, family, staff, and other health care providers.

Perform discharge planning and documentation to provide discharge instructions and maintain post-discharge continuity of care.

Assist Respiratory director and Sleep Lab assistant to ensure continuity of care for patients.

PAY RANGE:
$35.42 – $52.55
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
