Job Description
Robert Half is looking for an experienced Paralegal to support a growing legal team in Lake Forest, Illinois. This role involves providing critical assistance with litigation management, contract drafting, and legal research, while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling complex legal matters and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Support attorneys in managing litigation cases, including case assessment, maintaining case files, responding to discovery requests, and tracking important deadlines.
• Handle legal hold orders, respond to subpoenas, and oversee enterprise-wide service of process.
• Assist in managing asbestos portfolios and collaborate with insurers on related matters.
• Develop strategies for litigation claims management and oversee pre-litigation and litigation processes within insurance programs.
• Communicate with policyholders, claimants, experts, and attorneys regarding various litigation and pre-litigation issues.
• Monitor and set financial reserves, prepare reserve and accrual reports, and ensure accurate reporting.
• Draft and review contracts, reports, and filings such as IT agreements and procurement/supply contracts.
• Provide support for transactional activities, including acquisitions, divestitures, real estate dealings, and treasury matters.
• Conduct due diligence tasks, including preparing checklists and summarizing relevant documents.
• Perform legal research on commercial matters and contribute to strategic legal projects as needed
• At least 5 years of relevant experience as a paralegal, preferably in a corporate law department.
• Paralegal certification or degree is mandatory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new IT systems and applications.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to follow through effectively.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
• Familiarity with SimpleLegal matter management tools is preferred but not required.
