Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrician to perform repairs and installations of electrical services on private vessels. The role involves preparing work areas, installing cables and conduits, testing electrical equipment, and reading blueprints and standards manuals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces.
- Install welds and hook up electrical equipment.
- Lay out, pull, repair, and install cable and conduit.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
- Read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals.
- Remove scrap and perform general clean-up.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade.
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of Navy AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using common electrical measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.
- Experience with switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble, and test electrical equipment.
- Must have two years marine electrical experience and/or four years electrical experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Navy electrical and electronic systems.
- Versed in the use of Precision Measuring Instrumentation.
- Ability to use power and hand tools.
- Must be able to work all shifts and pass assessment or be in a training program.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $40.00/hr.
