Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Location: Malibu, CA 90265
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM or 9:00 AM-1:00 PM PART TIME
Job Type: Part-Time
Compensation: $35-$38/hour depending on experience
Job Summary
The LVN supports the health and recovery of adolescents in a residential treatment setting by delivering compassionate and competent nursing care. This includes overseeing medication management, conducting health assessments, and working collaboratively with the clinical team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct daily charting using SOAP notes and maintain records in compliance with facility, HIPAA, and state standards.
- Observe and monitor client conditions, reporting any changes or adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Supervise and document self-administration of medications.
- Communicate with in-house and external physicians to support client care and resolve any medical concerns.
- Enter physician orders and medication protocols into KIPU (EMR).
- Coordinate client appointments with psychiatrists, dietitians, EMDR therapists, and other providers; ensure clients attend sessions on time.
- Be available on an as-needed basis during non-standard hours to support the 24-hour facility (phone consultations may be acceptable for after-hours intakes).
- Provide training and guidance to new staff on detox and medication protocols.
- Take and document client vital signs, including weight, height, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Perform medication inventory checks and ensure proper storage of supplies and OTC medications.
- Assist with client intakes, including vitals, medication reviews, and driving clients to medical appointments when necessary.
- Participate in medication log audits and maintain medication compliance protocols.
- Maintain professional ethics, healthy boundaries, and infection control standards.
Client Population
- Residential program for adolescents (6 beds)
- Caseload includes youth undergoing behavioral and mental health treatment
- Focused on non-restrictive, supportive care in a nurturing environment
Required Qualifications
- Active California LVN License
- Minimum two years of experience in a mental/behavioral health setting
- Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and clean driving record
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Must pass a Live Scan background check
