Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Property Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a residential property in Oakland, California. This is a Contract position requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach to ensure the property is well-maintained and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in affordable housing management and be able to lead a team effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of property operations, including implementing policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a well-maintained and compliant building.
• Enforce property rules and regulations, monitor lease agreements, and address violations in a consistent and detail-oriented manner.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident files, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines during move-ins and recertifications.
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff to maintain a high-performing team.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing programs, including obtaining documentation, completing certifications, and managing deposits and rent collection.
• Respond promptly and courteously to resident inquiries, requests, and complaints, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Oversee the completion of work orders and ensure vacant units are turned over efficiently and within deadlines.
• Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to manage property operations, with knowledge of Boston Post software as a plus.
LIHTC and HUD experience required!
• High school diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in affordable housing management is preferred.
• At least two years of experience in property management, including training and evaluating staff, with a focus on Tax Credit properties.
• Strong proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Basic mathematical skills required for financial tasks such as rent collection and deposit management.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize assignments effectively to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with Boston Post software is advantageous.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to address resident concerns in a detail-oriented and timely manner.
