Job Description
Job Summary:
The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion machinery to produce high-quality products such as plastic tubing, sheeting, or profiles. This role requires previous hands-on experience with extrusion equipment and a strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation:
Configure extrusion machines based on job specifications, including die selection, temperature settings, and speed controls.
Start, monitor, and adjust machines to ensure consistent product output.
Synchronize machine speed, vacuum, air pressure, and sizing rings for optimal performance.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect extruded products for defects and ensure they meet dimensional and visual specifications.
Perform in-process quality checks and make real-time adjustments as needed.
Document production data and maintain accurate records.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Conduct routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn dies or parts.
Identify and resolve mechanical or process issues to minimize downtime.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating extrusion machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with plastic, metal, or polymer extrusion processes.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Vocational or technical training in manufacturing or mechanical systems is a plus.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Basic math and measurement skills.
Working Conditions:
Factory or industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working night or weekend shifts.
