About The Role
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair. Competitive base salary of £40,178, with on-target earnings up to £52,000. Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities. 40 hours per week, with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and one Saturday per four weeks.
Where you'll work
You'll be part of the Folkstone cluster, covering areas like Ashford, Dover, Hythe, New Romney, Lydd. You'll work in your local area, following a scheduled list of appointments – no reactive callouts.
What to expect
Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre-booked with the member expecting you. You’ll carry out:
- Routine servicing
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
- In-depth repairs normally completed in a workshop
- Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
- Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
Because SMR is structured, you’re not reacting to breakdowns – you’re delivering planned work. From day one you'll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
What you'll need
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
