Job Title: Field Systems Engineer – IT Infrastructure & Client Services
Overview:
Robert Half is seeking a tech-savvy, solutions-oriented Field Systems Engineer who thrives in client-facing environments and enjoys building strong, long-term relationships through technical excellence. This role offers a unique mix of on-site support, systems engineering, and strategic consulting in a managed services environment. You'll be guiding clients through infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity enhancement, and cloud transformation.
What You'll Do:
- Act as the primary technical contact for a portfolio of business clients, managing all aspects of their IT systems.
- Architect, configure, and support a range of systems including servers, network gear, firewalls, and data protection tools.
- Plan and execute server transitions, network refreshes, and virtualization rollouts using Hyper-V or VMware.
- Deploy and manage cloud platforms like Microsoft 365, Azure, and SharePoint.
- Offer advanced troubleshooting for escalated service tickets beyond the helpdesk or remote operations center.
- Conduct regular system audits, performance assessments, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Recommend and implement security solutions, including MFA, EDR, and compliance support across HIPAA, PCI, and other frameworks.
- Participate in technical planning sessions with client stakeholders to align IT strategy with business goals.
- Contribute to internal process improvements and stay on top of evolving tech stacks and industry best practices.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 4 years supporting business IT environments, ideally within a service provider or consulting setting.
- Strong expertise in the following areas:
- Windows Server/Desktop OS (2019 and newer)
- Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Azure services, and SharePoint
- Firewall administration and network architecture (VLANs, VPNs, Cisco/Meraki)
- Data protection systems like Veeam, Datto, or similar
- Endpoint protection platforms (SentinelOne, Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, etc.)
- Virtualization skills with platforms like VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with IT service frameworks (ITIL/ITSM) and practical experience in change/incident workflows.
- Hands-on use of tools such as Meraki, DUO, StarWind, Supermicro hardware, and backup solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, along with a sharp attention to detail.
- A team-first mindset with a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.

- Professional certifications such as: Azure Admin Associate, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft MCSA, VMware VCP, or Cisco/Meraki credentials.
