Job Description
The Keene Family YMCA is seeking a Teacher's Assistant to work in their busy childcare center. In this role you will provide quality experiences to children and parents that focus on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring, while creating a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Full and part-time opportunities are available. Essential Functions of the Childcare Assistant Teacher
- Assists with implementing curriculum within the established guidelines.
- As a full-time employee you must be dependable, and you will be expected to build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care. Full-time dependability is crucial to this role.
- Assists with supervising the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Assists with maintaining required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year).
- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y's commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire date.
- Health form completed within the 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
- A desire to work with children in a developmental setting.
PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications:
- 3 + year experience working with children.
- Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
