A Day in the Life of an Associate Attorney

• We're looking for proactive problem solvers with excellent communication and organizational abilities, who thrive both independently and in a collaborative environment.

• As a civil litigation Associate, your day will be multi-faceted, offering a blend of independent work and team collaboration.

• You'll begin by managing your own caseload from start to finish-drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, all while keeping a keen eye on details and deadlines.

• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials, providing you with valuable courtroom experience.

• Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies.

• Regular communication with clients will be a central part of your day, as you provide them with status updates and interim written reports on the progress of their cases.

• Conduct thorough legal research, preparing memoranda to support case strategy, and working alongside partners and senior attorneys to ensure seamless case management.

• Assist in trials and hearings, requiring strong advocacy skills.

• Taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions will also be part of your role, making attention to detail and effective communication key attributes for success in this position.

What Matters Most

To succeed as an Associate Attorney (Transportation) – New York, NY, you will need a robust set of skills and qualifications:

• A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar are essential prerequisites.

• You should possess 3 to 5 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably defense.

• Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, along with the ability to perform legal research and respond to discovery requests, is crucial.

• A strong foundation in both federal and state court procedures, as well as experience in preparing and reviewing litigation documents, is essential

• Areas of focus will include Transportation, Construction Litigation, and Tort Liability.

The position offers a competitive salary between $110,000 and $170,000, based on your experience.
