Job Description
LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a private equity-backed construction company headquartered in Camden County, NJ. With a strong portfolio of ongoing and upcoming projects, they are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller. This is a key leadership role that will support the Controller in managing all aspects of corporate and project accounting.

You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. This role requires a strong background in construction accounting, including both corporate and project-level financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Controller in managing the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, and sales tax filings
  • Prepare and review financial statements, job cost reports, and internal financial packages
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project accounting, including cost tracking and revenue recognition
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
  • Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff
  • Contribute to financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and project accounting, including WIP schedules and job costing
  • Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Must be able to work onsite 5 days per week

Compensation:
$110,000-$125,000
