Asbestos Certified Laborer Role Summary:
SC Services is seeking a skilled and experienced the Asbestos Certified Laborer to join the team. The successful candidate will perform manual labor to aid in demolition and deconstruction of buildings, including residential, commercial projects, and construction sites. The worker also learns to perform semi-skilled work to remove asbestos, mold, and lead based paint from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, piping, and other structures following hazardous waste handling guidelines. Your role will involve precise adherence to safety protocols.
Asbestos Certified Laborer Role Responsibilities:
- Transportation: Provide own transportation to yards or jobsites throughout Detroit, Flint, and Lansing.
- Safety Compliance: Observe and comply with all company and specific site safety procedures and project policies. Maintain the construction site in strict accordance with OSHA guidelines and, when applicable, municipal rules, regulations, and policies.
- Manual Tasks: Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods, including lifting, positioning, and securing materials.
- Project Plans: Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Equipment Maneuvering: Maneuver equipment in tight spaces and around obstacles while maintaining safety and precision.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with ground crew and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Safety Regulations: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe work habits.
- Equipment Reporting: Report any damaged or faulty equipment to management for timely action.
Asbestos Certified Laborer Role Requirements:
- 1+ years of construction experience required.
- Current Michigan State Asbestos Worker or Contractor/Supervisor License required.
- Current Lead Training Certification (or willingness to become accredited) required.
- OSHA 10 or higher certification.
- Experience with operating skid steer, aerial lift, and scissor lift preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation including valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 35+ pounds regularly and safely.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy equipment.
- Must be able to work in a construction environment with potential exposure to dust, noise, waste, toxic and infectious materials, and in possible inclement weather.
- Must follow safety regulations and wear proper safety equipment, as required by job.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
