Job Description
Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community in Central VA is seeking an Aquatic & Fitness Instructor to join our team! Full-time position available with complete benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, 403B with company match, and more. Hours are Monday through Friday day shift.
- Plans and coordinates fitness class programming and aquatic programming utilizing available resources and providing a diversified program based on resident and employee needs and interests. Meets at least weekly with supervisor to coordinate programs for entire community.
- Provides individual consultations to residents and employees in an effort to suggest appropriate exercise programs to provide supervision and instruction on the proper use of equipment and aquatic regiments.
- Solicits and motivates resident and employee participation in wellness programs by encouraging new residents and demonstrating exercise techniques to enhance understanding.
- Monitors equipment and facility usage and reports any damages to supervisor. Cleans pool as needed.
- Assists with inventory and maintenance of all exercise equipment and aquatic supplies.
- Maintains all necessary documentation to include sign in sheets and physician permission forms.
- Assists with planning of events such as the Health Fair, challenges, etc.
Requirements:
Educational requirements
- High school diploma
- Primary Group Fitness Certification or Personal Training Certification
Licensure, Certification, and Registration
Lifeguard Certification, preferred
- Certified CPR/First Aid
- Certified to teach aquatic and excercise class, preferred
Work Orientation and Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience working with older adults in an exercise setting, preferred
