Job Description
The 1st Grade Dual Language Classroom Teacher is a dynamic and inquiry-driven instructor who is dedicated to fostering student curiosity, growth, biliteracy and achievement. They value collaboration with colleagues, and embody a growth mindset. In the primary grades, native and non-native English speakers in the Dual Language Program learn primarily in Spanish.
Key Competencies: Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Flexibility to adapt instruction in the moment to meet student needs in an inquiry-driven space.
- Ability to create and adapt unit plans using provided curricular resources such as Lucy Calkins Units of Study.
- Implementation of accommodations and modifications.
- Co-plan, co-instruct, and co-assess with diverse learner teacher(s) and other staff to deliver accessible, standards-based instruction to individual students, small groups, and the whole class
- Interest in working collaboratively and reflecting on practices to improve instruction for all students.
- Ability to use a variety of engagement techniques to promote student learning.
- Ability to unpack Common Core Standards.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to using data and assessment to drive instruction.
- Willingness to consistently manage student behavior employing school-wide system.
- Ability to plan and lead small group targeted instruction.
- Willingness to engage with families as partners in their child’s education.
- Dedication to actively engaging parents in educational advocacy for their children.
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism.
