Join the RAC as a Mobile Mechanic in the Service, Maintenance and Repair division. You’ll bring expert vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills directly to our customers, wherever they are—driveways, office car parks, and more. You’ll be supported from day one with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit. Expect independence, career progression, and a 40-hour week that keeps you moving.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers to deliver high-quality maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light vehicles, representing the RAC with professionalism on driveways and in customer conversations.
- Manage stock, complete reporting, and maintain clear communication with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Think on your feet to determine the right approach for each customer and situation, with varying fixes and challenges every day.
- Provide a mix of servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and checks, with suitable planning and execution in a mobile setting.
- Operate in a way that supports the RAC mission and standards, while pursuing continuous improvement in service delivery.
Qualifications
- Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Location & Compensation
- Salary: base £38,625, with on-target earnings up to £50,000; guaranteed overtime can increase base to £44,385, with additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
- 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30am–5:00pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
