About the Role

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast‑growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members – from their driveway to their workplace car park. There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries. Instead you work through a scheduled list of jobs with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

What You’ll Do

  • Routine servicing
  • Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
  • In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop
  • Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
  • Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than six points

Locations

Opportunities in the South East: Brighton, Dover, Esher, Guildford, High Wycombe, Maidenhead, Maidstone, Milton Keynes, Slough.

  • A competitive base salary of £40,170, with on‑target earnings of up to £52,000

  • 40‑hour week, core hours 8:30 am‑5:00 pm, one day in four Saturdays
  • Option to work extra rest days at £30 per hour, earning up to a further £5,000 per year
