Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast‑growing part of the RAC that delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members. You will work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work. The role is ideal for techs who want variety and independence without the reactive nature of patrol.
Responsibilities
- Routine servicing of light vehicles.
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
- In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
- Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
- Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
Qualifications
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
- Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Benefits & Compensation
- Competitive base salary of £40,178, with on‑target earnings up to £52,000.
- Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
- 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one Saturday in four.
- Fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
- Paid annual leave: 23 days (rising to 25 with service) plus bank holidays.
- Pension scheme with up to 6.5% matched contributions.
