Join the RAC as a Mobile Mechanic. You’ll be out on driveways and in car parks, chatting with customers, giving advice, and representing the RAC with pride. Every fix, every chat, every driveway visit shows what we’re all about. You’ll deliver expert vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills directly to customers, wherever they are, with independence and real work-life balance. Responsibilities:
- Deliver maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and checks for a range of light vehicles, away from traditional garages (driveways, car parks or customer locations).
- Manage stock, complete reporting, and maintain ongoing customer conversations to ensure high levels of service.
- Think on your feet to make the right call for each customer and each situation, with different fixes and encounters every day.
Qualifications:
- Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Role Details / Benefits:
- A competitive base salary of £38,625, with on-target earnings of up to £50,000.
- An opt-in Guaranteed Overtime option to increase base salary (£44,385 with overtime and bonus opportunities); 40 hours per week, with core hours 8:00 am–4:30 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
- We provide your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit from day one.
- Time Off: 23 days of holiday (rising to 25 with service), plus bank holidays; paid family leave and flexible schedules.
- Pension scheme with employer contributions, life assurance, and optional flex benefits.
- Wellbeing support and employee benefits including exclusive discounts and share scheme eligibility after probation.
- Hours: 40 per week; core hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; 1 in 4 Saturdays.
