A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent), with post-qualification technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience. A customer-focused approach and a full UK driving licence.

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you will deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You will start and end your day at home and will be equipped to handle a range of calls, from a flat battery to tyre changes or complex fault-finding. You will be supported with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit. The RAC has been a trusted name for over 125 years, combining heritage with innovation. Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
  • Diagnose faults, perform fault finding, and deliver quick, confident solutions on-site.
  • Manage each call professionally, ensuring customer reassurance and high service standards.
  • Operate in a manner that starts and ends the day from home, with appropriate use of provided tools and equipment.
  • Utilise diagnostic kit and tools to complete repairs and incident resolution on-site.
  • Represent RAC as a trusted ambassador on every call.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent) with post-qualification technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
