Overview
You are someone who gets people. This isn’t just spanners and engines—our mechanics are out there on driveways, chatting with customers, giving advice, and representing the RAC with pride. You’re not just in the RAC—you are the RAC. Every fix, every chat, every driveway visit shows what we’re all about. You like mixing things up. Every day’s a little different—servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and checks. But it doesn’t stop there: you’ll manage your stock, do your reporting, and keep those customer conversations flowing. You think on your feet. You’ll be trusted to think on your feet and make the right call for each customer. Different fixes, different faces, new challenges every day.
Responsibilities
- Provide mobile vehicle maintenance and diagnostic services to customers at driveways, office car parks, and other locations.
- Perform servicing, diagnostics, repairs and checks as required.
- Manage stock, complete reporting, and maintain clear, proactive customer communication.
- Deliver first-class service with independence, using provided RAC tools and diagnostic kit.
Qualifications
- Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

- A competitive base salary of £38,625, with on-target earnings of up to £50,000.
- A guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
- 40 hours per week, with core hours from 8:30am to 5:00pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
