Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with the member expecting you. You’ll carry out routine servicing, diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment, in‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop, member advice and recommendations based on your inspection, and vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards. Because SMR is structured, you’re not reacting to breakdowns but delivering planned work that you can prepare for.

Responsibilities:

  • Routine servicing of light vehicles.
  • Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
  • In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
  • Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
  • Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
  • Full use of technical skill and problem‑solving ability to help people move safely and quickly.
  • Reporting and documentation of work completed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

As a Mobile Mechanic you’re the face of the RAC, working on driveways, in car parks, speaking directly with members, and providing reassurance, clarity and high‑quality service. You enjoy independence, problem‑solving and real variety, making decisions on the spot and taking pride in using your technical ability to genuinely help people and keep them moving.

What We Offer:

  • Location: Brentwood, Essex.
  • Salary: up to £57,000 OTE, with a base salary of £45,378 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable).
  • Full‑time, 40‑hour week with core hours 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
  • Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary and additional bonus opportunities.
  • Tools and equipment: fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
