About the Role

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre-booked and the member expects you. You will carry out routine servicing, diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment, in-depth repairs that would normally be done in a workshop, provide member advice and recommendations based on your inspection, and conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards. SMR is structured, so you are not reacting to breakdowns—you deliver planned work that you can prepare for. From day one you have a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. Use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again safely, quickly and confidently.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

  • Competitive base salary of £45,378 (incl. London weighting allowance where applicable) with on-target earnings of up to £57,000.
  • Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
  • 40 hours per week with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
  • Planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members—from driveways to workplace car parks.
  • Market-competitive base salary of £45,370 with the opportunity to increase earnings up to £57,000 through bonuses and premium-rate overtime; 40‑hour week with Monday‑Saturday availability (8 am‑8 pm).
  • Optional overtime: after the first month you can work extra rest days at £30 per hour—one extra day a month could earn you £3,000 more per year, two days could add £5,000.
