Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast‑growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members – from their driveway to their workplace car park. The division offers a predictable, structured work pattern: scheduled jobs, no emergency call‑outs, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries. Members book appointments in advance. You will use a fully equipped van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics to perform workshop‑level repairs on the go.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing.
  • Perform diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
  • Conduct in‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
  • Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspections.
  • Complete vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
  • Report work results and complete necessary paperwork.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
