ROLE OVERVIEW:

As an HR Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the HR function and ensuring the delivery of high-quality HR services across the charity. You will provide HR advice and support to employees and managers, manage a variety of HR processes, and help drive initiatives that enhance our people management practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance and advice to line managers and employees on a range of HR issues, including employee relations, performance management, absence management, and policy interpretation.
  • Support with employee relations casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management in line with company policies and employment law.
  • Assist with the recruitment process, including job advertisements, interview coordination, and conducting reference checks.
  • Support new starters with their onboarding process.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are adhered to and help update them in line with current legislation and best practices.
  • Actively promote employee wellbeing initiatives and ensure employees are aware of available support resources.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, manage HR databases, and assist with HR reporting, when required.
  • Support with various HR projects, such as implementing HR software or employee engagement initiatives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

This role would suit an experienced HR Administrator or HR Assistant looking to take the next step and develop their HR advisory skills.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Proven experience as an HR Administrator or HR Assistant, with an understanding of HR processes and employment law.
  • CIPD Level 3 or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and managers.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism, while providing practical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing HR records and casework.
  • Competent in using HR software (preferably) and Microsoft Office Suite.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of working in the charity sector.
  • Experience of delivering projects as part of a HR team.
