Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Fire Stopper to undertake passive fire protection and fire stopping works, predominantly associated with Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) remedial works across occupied residential properties.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out fire stopping and remedial works to a high standard, in accordance with relevant manufacturers' requirements and company procedures. The role will involve working with a range of fire stopping systems and existing building construction, with the ability to understand and work from FRA and compartmentation information.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesUndertake fire stopping and passive fire protection remedial works arising from Fire Risk Assessments and compartmentation surveys.
Read and understand Fire Risk Assessments, compartmentation surveys and associated remedial work instructions.
Install and repair fire stopping systems in accordance with relevant manufacturers' installation requirements.
Accurately record completed works and report any additional defects or issues identified during the works.
Maintain good standards of workmanship, health and safety and site conduct.
Work professionally within occupied residential properties and minimise disruption to residents.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential: NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection, or demonstrable equivalent practical experience and competence.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Proven practical experience in fire stopping or passive fire protection.
Practical knowledge of fire stopping systems and their installation.
Competence in using a variety of fire stopping products and hand tools.
Ability to read, understand and work from Fire Risk Assessments, compartmentation surveys and remedial work instructions.
Ability to identify and report defects or unexpected site conditions.
Good communication and record-keeping skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Previous experience undertaking remedial works arising from Fire Risk Assessments.
Experience working within social housing or other occupied residential buildings.
Knowledge of compartmentation and common fire stopping defects.
Previous experience or knowledge of fire door installation, inspection or maintenance, including BM TRADA standards.
Additional passive fire protection or fire door qualifications.
